  1. Slide back on saddle during long climbs 
  2. Pedal down stroke with heel-toe (don’t point toes)
  3. Start pulling Back at 4 O’clock to help your other foot
    through the dead spot

Are You Exercising Too Much? The Facts About Overtraining

Most people these days are worried about getting enough exercise. But, there are plenty of people who may be getting
a little too much. Too much exercise may lead to overtraining which can make you susceptible to injuries and illnesses.
How do you know if you're doing too much? If your workouts suddenly feel harder than usual, or you're losing ground
despite the fact that you're working hard, you may be experiencing overtraining. If you're feeling the pain, it's time to do
some analysis on your workout routine.

 

The typical signs of overtraining include:

  • Insomnia
  • Achiness or pain in the muscles and/or joints
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Elevated morning pulse
  • Sudden inability to complete workouts
  • Feeling unmotivated and lacking energy
  • Increased susceptibility to colds, sore throats and other illnesses
  • Loss in appetite
  • Decrease in performance

We all have busy lives and we can all find excuses to do anything but go take some exercise. So, set a time aside for your cycling, if it’s when you get up in the morning, before work, or at lunch break, or after work in the evening, whenever it’s going to be that’s the time you’re going out on the bike, NO EXCUSES!

Aerobic Base Training- Going Slower to Get Faster

One of the hardest concepts for an athlete to understand and implement is base training. It is counterintuitive to run or bike slowly in order to gain performance later in the season. It is also very difficult to take a step back from the intense training you were doing a few weeks ago, and bring the speed and pace way down. But if you have the discipline to train aerobically for a period of time, when everyone else is still hammering away, it will pay you dividends down the road.
